At Bright Spark Electrical Services, we kno, and are awre of Electrical thermal burns are a serious and often life-threatening injury that can occur when a person comes into contact with an electrical current. With the use of Electricity It is possible to recieve thermal burns, such as if you are close to very hot surfaces or near an electrical explosion.
•Overloaded, faulty, poorly maintained or shorted electrical equipment which can also get very hot.
•Even low voltage batteries, such as car batteries, can get hot and may even explode if shorted out.
Loose batteries stored in a drawer, where the ends are touching something metal can get hot - ive experienced this with those small 9V batteries put in a pocket, and the terminals touching my keys.
When an electrical current passes through the body, it generates heat, which can cause burns to the skin and underlying tissues. The severity of the burn depends on the voltage of the electrical current, the length of time the person is in contact with the current, and the current’s path through the body.
Superficial burns affect only the top layer of skin and are typically mild, causing redness and irritation. Partial-thickness burns extend deeper into the skin and can cause blistering and scarring.
Full-thickness burns are the most severe type of electrical thermal burn and can cause tissue damage, nerve damage, and even death.
For mild burns, the affected area can be cleaned and treated with a topical ointment or cream to promote healing.
For more severe burns, hospitalization may be necessary, and treatment may involve debridement, skin grafting, and other medical interventions.
To reduce the risk of injury, it is important to follow all electrical safety guidelines, including wearing appropriate protective gear when working with electricity, using insulated tools, and avoiding contact with live wires or electrical equipment. In addition, it is important to have a basic understanding of Electrical Safety and to Seek Medical Attention immediately if you or someone else experiences an electrical thermal burn.

I had an emergency situation arising from a constantly tripping appliance. A call to Bright Sparks, who have helped me before, led me to their website’s ‘Knowledge Centre’ and although I’ve used similar help sites before this was excellent – clear, well laid out, and logically organised – and as someone with zero electrical knowledge I managed to find the fault myself!
